President Bola Tinubu received praise from the All Progressives Congress in Benue State for starting the peace and reconciliation conference that took place in Makurdi on Sunday.
In a statement released in Makurdi on Tuesday, the state APC Chairman, Benjamin Omale, characterized the gathering as an important step toward promoting unity and bolstering the party in the state.
"I thank President Bola Tinubu for starting the reconciliation meeting," he declared. This one-of-a-kind gesture demonstrates Mr. President's affection and respect for Benue State and its citizens.
"We assure the President of our total commitment and loyalty always," Omale said, pledging the Benue APC's allegiance to the president. Benue is exclusively for you.
Additionally, he praised Governor Hyacinth Alia for his efforts to foster party unity.
He stated, "The governor's steadfast support, dedication to unity, and leadership in the party have continued to bring growth and strength throughout the state."
Omale also commended the governor for facilitating the reconciliation meeting and supporting the president's plan for the state's turnaround.
The meeting on peace and reconciliation took place on Sunday at the Government House's New Banquet Hall in Makurdi.
The purpose of the conference was to settle disagreements between Governor Hyacinth Alia and Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Prior to the upcoming primaries, the two leaders apparently disagreed on the matter of automatic tickets for elective posts.
Alhaji Mu'azu Rijau, the APC National Vice Chairman for the North-Central zone, who was present at the meeting, stated that the party had reconciled its internal conflicts and come out stronger.
"We have been one family since we took power in 2022 and 2023, and today we are all back in the fold as one united family," Rijau stated.
Rijau clarified that the party would follow set rules on automatic tickets for members of the State and National Assembly.
Primarily, either consensus or direct voting should be used, according to party orders and the Electoral Act's stipulations. Initially, we have made the decision to implement direct primaries in Benue State," he stated.
